Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne viral infection causing fever, rash, and joint pain lasting 3-7 days. Transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, it's prevalent in tropical regions including South-East Asia and southern India. While symptoms resemble dengue fever, distinguishing between the two is clinically important. IgG/IgM serological testing is the standard diagnostic method for confirming chikungunya infection, enabling accurate differentiation from dengue and other febrile illnesses.
